When we started, we knew well enough that gadgets can badly affect kids’ attention-span. We made all our design decisions with this important information in mind. What we don’t know is, a year after starting this journey we developed a digital activity that can help increase kids’ attention span.

When we started building StoryTime last year, we decided to focus on the iPhone first then the iPad. Our reasoning was, that more people use iPhones than iPads. How wrong we were.

When you download StoryTime for the first time. You will see unlike many other apps, there are no instructions in StoryTime. You might feel lost. Don’t know where to start and what to do. Your kids might feel the same too.

How much screen time is too much? At what age you can give screen to your kids? How to have better screen time for your kids? Here are American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry recommendation:

Time moves fast on TV. In one hour the “TV World” can cover the whole day or weeks. Everything looks easier and faster. Even struggles and hardships will not take long on TV. Yet, in the real world, everything takes longer and harder. Because of that, we get bored, tired and unmotivated easily.

We often see words like "Kids-friendly" attached to different products. "This cafe is kids-friendly." "This movie is kids-friendly." "The ride at the theme park is kids friendly". But what does kids-friendly actually means?

StoryTime is a set of digital activities to explore and discover many things. And while using it, your kids will learn about emotional regulation. They might love our beautiful earth more. They might improve their focus and attention and they will learn how to think better.

All children love books. They love looking at it even before they can read. Being a book publisher, we share the same interest. So when we decided to develop an educational app for kids, we wanted it to be around books. We also wanted to bring the way kids interact with books into StoryTime.

With every activity we design and develop, we learn a lesson. For this activity, kids view the world as it is. With limited life experience, kids often perceive things as it is. And it's often different from what we thought. What seems straightforward for us might not be the same to kids.

Without doubt one of the concerns of every parent is our kids' ability to read. While “ABCs” is not designed to teach kids how to read, we designed it to teach kids the sounds of each alphabet. Which is essential for kids to know before they can start reading.
